6W8JI Senegal Ed Richmond W4MGN (now W4YO) operated from Africa between 1979 and 1983.  From the summer of 1980 he always started his radio operations from Dakar, Senegal.  He first received the callsign 6W8JI in 1980 and, when the government changed its callsign structure, received the call 6W1JI in 1981.
