AH1A

Baker & Howland Islands

Bob, K4UEE along with ten other operators activated this DXCC Country in January-February 1993.  This operation was conducted from Howland Island, a 400 acre, flat coral island .5 miles wide and 1.5 miles long.  The island is located roughly 50 miles north of the Equator and 1,700 miles SW of Hawaii.  It is (normally) uninhabited.  It's believed that this was only the second operation from Howland Island since WWII (the first was in 1988).  Over 52,000 QSOs were made by the AH1A team.  Major financial support for this DXpedition was provided by the SEDXC.
