AL7EL
Alaska

Tom N4XP (formerly K4TSJ) was licensed as AL7EL while operating from Delta Junction Alaska 1981 to 1983 while on assignment with the US Army. Delta Junction is 100 miles south of Fairbanks and 100 miles west of Beaver Creek Yukon and, along with one other location (Russia's Siberia) is known as the "Ice Box of the World". These two locations experience temperatures ranging from 90 degrees plus in the summer to minus 75 degrees in the winter. These locations are two of the few in the world where life goes on as usual in this Artic climate without its inhabitants living in structures connected by tunnels and passageways. Vehicles are conventional in design and makeup. Even though Delta Junction is located close to Fairbanks, it still experiences far more harsh temperatures.
