Ed Richmond W4MGN (now W4YO) operated from Africa, between 1979 and 1983. In the summer of 1982 his wanderings took him to the Indian Ocean where, among other places, he operated from Moroni in the Comoro Islands as guest operator at the station of Alain D68AM. Alain worked as a member of the French cooperative technical organization. Alain's antenna was a dipole about eight feet off the ground hung between two palm trees.
