ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA -- Located on a high plateau with an elevation over 7,000 feet, this city of more than two million people has a name that means "New flower" in English. Since the end of the revolution in 1991, she is beginning to bloom again. Our visit to Ethiopia was an educational and cultural delight as well as an Amateur Radio success. In fact we hope to return to Ethiopia someday just to see more of the country and the many historical sites.
As always, there are a number of peole to thank for their help and friendship. Ato Ghetnet Neggessee of the Ethiopian Telecommunications Authority devoted many hours of his personal time and energies to ensure the success of our venture. We are fortunate to count him both as a personal friend and as a friend of Amateur Radio. Ato Fikadu Goba, the general manager of the Wabe Shebelle Hotels, is a rare individual whose goal of providing for the needs of the Hotel's guests and staff is no more important than the dedication of Ato Fikadu and his wife to their Christian faith and humanitarian efforts. Thanks to Delta Airlines, who makes these Dxpedition trips possible.
