Sable Island is a small Canadian island situated 300 km (190 mi) southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and about 175 km (109 mi) southeast of the closest point of mainland Nova Scotia in the North Atlantic Ocean.

In December 2013, Sable Island was designated as the Sable Island National Park Reserve. Sable Island is 42 KM long and has a distinct crescent shape. Sable is made up entirely of sand. The island is populated with over 500 wild horses and tens of thousands of Grey seals. Parks Canada maintains a staff of three people on the island. MSC continues to support a meteorological program on the island, however, data collection has been automated and MSC no longer has personnel on the island.

The DXpedition, SEVEN years in the making, is sheduled for March 20 - 29, 2023.
