Program:  Field Day Beams without Towers

Presented by:
Mike Roden W5JR

Ever need to put up an HF beam but no place for the tower?  Got trees?  A ball field's light poles provided the supports for a 40m 2 element wire beam and a pair of 20m 2 element wire beams at the NFARL FD CW station.  The performance was quite good for the effort.  These wire beams can be deployed in your own backyard to give a little punch over that dipole, doublet, loop or vertical you have been using.  I'll show pictures of the construction methods used to build the VE7CA "portable" wire beams as described in the 2010 ARRL Antenna handbook.
