Program:  K5P Palmyra Island DXpedition

Presented by:
Lou Deitrich N2TU

In early January of this year, Palmyra and Jarvis Islands stood at #9 on the DXCC Most Wanted List.  As a national wildlife refuge, access to Palmyra Atoll is very tightly controlled and difficult to achieve.  Working with The Nature Conservancy, the K5P team submitted a successful proposal to the US Fish and Wildlife Service resulting in a 14-day January 2016 expedition.

As often happens. things change that challenge the ingenuity of the team...from restrictions requiring the use of vertical antennas to an aircraft too small to carry the entire team to the island...and much more to be revealed during Lous talk!

Lou Dietrich, N2TU has led or operated on four major DXpeditions.  He was originally licensed as WN2RNW in the early 60s during his High School years.  After time off for "Family, College and Worklife", Lou re-licensed as KA2MBC in 1981, upgraded to NN2G and "vanitized" over to N2TU.  Lou says I chose "TU" because we have a lot to be thankful for!  This is a wonderful hobby with fantastic people from all walks of life.  Click HERE for the K5P website.
