Team 1 arrived on the island on Saturday, October 9th, seven hours before operations began. We were on the air at 12:01AM local time (0401Z) on October 10th.
We operated for nearly two weeks, shutting down operations at 2359Z on Friday, October 22nd. The DXpedition was organized by members of the SEDXC (Southeastern DX Club), but non-members participated including some members of the K5D team.
Nine operators arrived on Saturday, October 9th and began set-up immediately, making the first contact on 10/10/10 at 0401Z with K4JPD on 40M. Team changeover day was the following Saturday, October 16th, when six men returned home and were replaced by six new Team members; three from the first week stayed on for the duration of the operation.
Rotating operators at the half-way point of the operation was a strategy used at K5D and it worked very well there as well as on Saba. The new, fresh (and sweet-smelling) operators arrived raring to go, while those that had been there a week were in need of rest.
